Notice of Replacement Public Representative for the Mattagami Region Source Protection Committee (2011/12/12)

Summary of Functions of Committee: As outlined in the Clean Water Act, 2006, the Mattagami Region Source Protection Committee was created according to the provincial regulation. The Mattagami Region Source Protection Committee will oversee a science-based planning process to develop a Source Protection Plan to protect the City of Timmins' municipal drinking water source.

Composition of the Committee: The Committee, by regulation, consists of 10 members, excluding the Chair. The Committee is comprised of seats representing the Municipal Sector(3), Economic Sector(3), Other Interests Sector(3) and First Nations(1).

The Mattagami Region Conservation Authority (MRCA) is located in northeastern Ontario and covers approximately 11,000 square kilometers of land and water including the Mattagami and Porcupine Watersheds (see Watershed Map). The MRCA is one of 36 Authorities established in the Province of Ontario.

The Mattagami Region Conservation Authority’s mandate is to protect and manage the water and land resources over which it has jurisdiction.
