ONTARIO POWER GENERATION, O’GORMAN INTERMEDIATE AND THE WINTERGREEN FUND FOR CONSERVATION GET TO... (2009/7/27)

A Press Conference will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 3 at the offices of the Mattagami Region Conservation Authority at Gillies Lake to announce several exciting community conservation projects scheduled for the coming week.

O’Gorman Intermediate students have constructed swallow boxes and bat boxes with funds provided by Ontario Power Generation. These boxes will be handed out along with white spruce seedlings at Saturday’s Arbour Day being celebrated throughout the City of Timmins. Ontario Power Generation will also be presenting a cheque to the Conservation Authority in support of the First Annual Children’s Water Festival.

The Mattagami Region Conservation Authority (MRCA) is located in northeastern Ontario and covers approximately 11,000 square kilometers of land and water including the Mattagami and Porcupine Watersheds (see Watershed Map). The MRCA is one of 36 Authorities established in the Province of Ontario.

The Mattagami Region Conservation Authority’s mandate is to protect and manage the water and land resources over which it has jurisdiction.
