The MRCA has put in place a variety of flood control works throughout the City of Timmins to manage high flows where the risk of flooding is the greatest. Included in this list are the Mattagami River, Mountjoy River, Porcupine River and Kraft Creek. It also includes Town Creek, Crawford Creek and Mountjoy Creek as well as the shores of Porcupine Lake and Bob’s Lake. We have built small control dams, widened and straightened several sections of creek channel and purchased large blocks of flood hazard lands. The Conservation Authority also has a regular maintenance program to ensure all watercourses are free of any obstructions including beaver dams, log jams and siltation.
