Under its Flood Forecast and Warning, the Conservation Authority issues a variety of messages to the public providing the latest information on flood threats and watershed conditions. These messages are sent to local emergency services, the media as well as those watershed residents located in high risk areas.

The messaging terminology used by the Conservation Authority is listed below and was developed for use across the Province of Ontario.
NORMAL – No flood conditions to report.
High flows, unsafe banks, melting ice or other factors that could be dangerous for recreational users such as anglers, canoeists, hikers, children, pets, etc. Flooding is not expected.
WATERSHED CONDITIONS STATEMENT – Flood Outlook
Early notice of the potential for flooding based on weather forecasts calling for heavy rain, snow melt, high wind or other conditions that could lead to high runoff, cause ice jams, lakeshore flooding or erosion.
